The Greater Dallas
Association is basically the Diocesan Chapter of the Knights of Columbus
composed of delegates from each council in the Diocese.
It's primary purpose is to organize and implement Diocesan-wide Knights of
Columbus events, such as the Hike For Life, Bishops' Pickup, Special
Olympics events, Free Throw Contests, the Dallas Classic, Major Degrees,
Diocesan-wide charity drives, etc.
Each council may be represented by up to two voting delegates, although all
Knights in good standing may attend the meetings. It is responsibility of
the attending members to report to their respective councils any information
provided at the meeting so that each council will be aware of what Diocesan
activities are planned and be able to participate and assist in their
success. Guest speakers are often invited to speak at the beginning of the
meeting about issues or projects that might be considered for further action
by the GDA.
Meetings are held on the last Thursday of each month (@7:30 pm), unless the
date is moved or the meeting cancelled (such as in November). There are
four officers elected each year (President, Vice-President, Recording
Secretary and Treasurer) and numerous committee chairmen. We always try to
end the meeting before or around 9:00 pm.
GDA meetings are
held at Council 799: 10110 Shoreview Road, Dallas 75238, 214-348-7940
